The tranquil village of Habarana is considered to be one of the most convenient bases to visit and explore all the major sites of the Cultural Triangle. It’s also a great spot to base yourself if you are embarking on safaris to the Kaudulla and Minneriya National Parks, where elephant lovers can spot the island’s largest jumbo herds roaming free.
While the village does not offer much to do, it’s a great place to enjoy a relaxing getaway; where one simply lounges under the warm sun by a pool at an upmarket accommodation, maybe while sipping on some refreshing coconut water!
The Habarana Lake is the main attraction and if one gets there sufficiently early can enjoy a spot of bird watching, photography and maybe some fishing.
Remember to refrain from feeding any jumbo who might come your way!
